Meet Penny!

We were first introduced to #goatlife by our sweet, goat milk drinking pup.  After several years of navigating some difficult circumstances as a family, we decided we needed to insert something happy (& somewhat impulsive) into the mix.  Our friends breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and after spending some time around their dogs, we fell in love with the breed’s sweet disposition and those irresistible big, dark eyes.  A litter was on the way, and we knew one of those adorable, loving puppies was just what the girls (and admittedly my husband and I) needed; something to anticipate excitedly and love unconditionally!  1 year ago, an almost all white puppy with a copper colored spot on her forehead was born.  We named her Penny.

Her breeder was adamant that we continue to feed her goat milk when we brought her home due to the health benefits she had experienced with her other dogs and puppies.  I struggled to find goat milk to purchase for her, and what I could find was sourced from out of state. My initial interest in acquiring my own dairy goats was simply to establish my own source of goat milk for this little dog that had captured our hearts.  My research, however, revealed the benefits of goat milk and goat milk products were far more reaching than a healthy pooch with a happy digestive system.

We owe the launch of Land of Milk and Honey to this little dog and she has become a mascot of what we represent:  laughter, indulgence, and joy! Watch for Penny in our blog posts, newsletter, and on Instagram!
