Full Plate

My plate is full.  As a wife and working mother, I am pulled in a lot of different directions. It is undeniably stressful trying to meet the demands of corporate employment, keep up with school and sports schedules, maintain the household, and be a present wife.

Whatever is on your plate, countless undertakings are vying for your attention. It is so easy to get swept away in the rat race, and I see people all around struggling to keep up! Against this unattainable pace, how precious is a relaxing bath? A walk in the woods? That forbidden bite of a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth treat? A hearty laugh?

For me, there is a certain type of satisfaction in a full plate, knowing I am living life to the full, testing all my capabilities…capabilities that continue to grow and evolve with every life experience. Yet, the fuller my plate gets, the more sacred carving out sweet moments of escape like these become.

Our family was fortunate to move into a charming cottage-style house in the woods just after Thanksgiving. This home has quickly become my sanctuary…I can’t wait to get home from work and walk through the front door. There is something about the winding driveway through the woods, the patina on the aging cedar shake, the fire rolling in the old wood stove, the exposed woodwork throughout the quirky interior – our refuge from all of life’s demands!

Land of Milk and Honey is just that – our little patch of heaven. But it is more than 20 acres of wooded bliss in beautiful Leelanau County, Michigan. It is our family-owned company aimed at sharing that sweet escape with our customers through high quality, indulgent goat milk products.

Someone once told me, When your plate is overflowing – get goats!  Wait, no one would ever say that…but that is exactly what I plan to do!

The call of my heart is to work alongside my children rather than away from them.  To get our hands dirty together, to find deep satisfaction in a job well done, and to share something meaningful and joy-giving with a stressed out world.

I have a dream, and I have a brawny husband and 4 wide eyed daughters willing to run after it with me..... we invite you to join us as we get our goat on!
